Controversial Nigerian street-pop artiste, Portable, has survived a lone accident in Ogun State just hours before the naming ceremony of his newborn son.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday night while the singer was on his way out in preparation for the ceremony. According to Portable, the crash was caused by a sudden brake failure that forced him to take emergency action.
In a video shared on his Instagram story, the singer said he narrowly avoided a more severe outcome by steering his vehicle into a ditch to prevent a collision with another car.
“My fans, join me to appreciate God. I was just driving out this evening when the accident happened,” he said.
“Nothing do me. I came out unhurt. I suddenly realized that the car had failed brake. My people have arrived here at the scene of the incident. I thank God they are not here to carry my corpse.”
Portable expressed gratitude for surviving the crash, noting that the timing could have been far worse if heavier vehicles were on the road at the time.
“I’ve already bought two cows for my son’s naming ceremony. Thank God that the accident didn’t happen when a trailer was passing on the road,” he added.
The incident comes just as preparations were underway for his son’s naming ceremony, which had already generated attention online after the singer distributed free Ankara aso ebi to fans and supporters.
Portable’s partner, Bewaji, recently welcomed their child during a period that coincided with his boxing appearance against Carter Efe on May 1, 2026.
The singer, known for his frequent controversies and outspoken social media presence, has continued to attract public attention both for his music career and personal life.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the accident.
