The Member representing Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Nkemanma Kama, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the upcoming general election, strengthening his bid for another term in office.
The primary election, which recorded strong participation from party members across the constituency, ended with Kama emerging as the party’s flag bearer. His victory was greeted with celebrations from supporters and stakeholders who described the process as well-organised and competitive.
Shortly after his emergence, Kama expressed deep appreciation to party leaders, delegates, and constituents for their continued confidence in his leadership. He also acknowledged the role of the state leadership and Governor who, according to him, supported the process from start to finish.
“I’m elated and very happy for being given another opportunity to serve my people,” he said. “I’m grateful to all the stakeholders, our leaders, our constituents and most importantly our governor who stood by us throughout the process. Above all, I thank God for giving us this opportunity to serve again.”
The lawmaker used the moment to project confidence ahead of the general election, describing the turnout and mobilisation during the primaries as a preview of what the APC can expect at the polls. He insisted that the opposition would face a tougher challenge once campaigning fully begins.
“This is nothing compared to what will happen during the general election,” Kama stated, adding that the race ahead would be far more decisive than the party exercise. He further described the anticipated contest as “a piece of cake” in comparison to the upcoming election proper.
Kama also emphasised continuity in representation, arguing that experience at the National Assembly plays a key role in attracting development to constituencies. According to him, retaining seasoned lawmakers ensures stronger influence and better outcomes for constituents.
“A ranking member is a ranking member; you can’t buy that in the market,” he said. He added that having a former parliamentarian as governor was an advantage, noting that such leadership understands the value of experienced legislators in driving constituency development.
Also speaking after the primaries, Ebonyi State Commissioner for ICT, Tochukwu Okorie, praised the conduct of party members and the large turnout of supporters. He said the enthusiasm demonstrated confidence in the APC and its internal democratic process.
The APC primary in the Ohanivo Federal Constituency attracted significant attention, with observers noting the high level of mobilisation and engagement. Party officials say preparations are already shifting toward the general election, where the constituency is expected to witness a closely watched contest.
