Former Southampton and Royal Antwerp forward Victor Udoh has died at the age of 21 in Nigeria, with reports indicating that the circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.
According to reports by Mirror UK, the young footballer was found dead in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, although authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of death.
Udoh had recently returned to Nigeria after ending his spell with Czech club Dynamo České Budějovice, which he joined following his departure from Southampton in 2025.
The striker previously signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Southampton but left the English club after just seven months in search of more regular playing opportunities. He did not make a senior appearance during his time at the club.
Before moving to England, Udoh played for Belgian side Royal Antwerp, where he developed through the club’s ranks after arriving from Abuja-based football academy Hypebuzz.
He was widely regarded as one of the promising young Nigerian talents abroad after impressing at reserve level with 12 goals in 21 appearances.
Udoh later broke into Royal Antwerp’s senior setup, making 28 first-team appearances during his time with the Belgian club.
His sudden death has sparked shock among football fans and followers familiar with his career journey across Europe.
