Istanbul, Turkey – Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been named Footballer of the Year at the 72nd Annual Milliyet Sports Awards, one of Turkey’s most prestigious sporting honours.
Osimhen played a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s domestic double last season, helping the Yellow and Reds secure both the Turkish Super Lig and the Turkish Cup.
The Nigeria international scored 26 goals and provided four assists in 30 league appearances last season. He also contributed seven goals in the UEFA Europa League and five in the Turkish Cup, cementing his status as a top striker in Turkish football.
This season, Osimhen has maintained his stellar form, registering 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray, demonstrating consistency and lethal finishing.
The accolade further strengthens Osimhen’s reputation as one of the leading African forwards in European football, highlighting his growing influence on and off the pitch.
