Afrobeats singer Ruger has revealed that one of his biggest career regrets is missing out on a Nollywood film role after failing to see a message from actress and producer Funke Akindele.

Speaking in an interview with VJ Adams, the singer said the missed opportunity still bothers him, especially as he later realised the message had been sent directly to him on social media.

According to Ruger, Funke Akindele had reached out to him to feature in one of her film projects, but he did not see the message in time, causing him to unknowingly miss out on the collaboration.

He explained that he had initially wanted to message the filmmaker to appreciate her support for his music, only to discover she had already made contact first.

The singer described the situation as a painful lesson in missed timing, adding that it remains one of the most disappointing moments of his career so far.

Ruger noted that he is open to acting in the future, saying he has interest in the movie industry and would consider roles that allow him to explore character-driven storytelling.

However, he admitted that transitioning into acting may not be easy for him due to his discomfort with repeated shooting processes on film sets.

Despite that, he said he would still take on roles if the character is compelling enough, suggesting that acting remains a possibility alongside his music career.

The revelation highlights the increasing crossover between Nigeria’s music and film industries, where collaborations between Afrobeats stars and Nollywood productions continue to grow.
