The Plateau State Police Command has disbursed cheques totaling N28,509,182 to the families of officers who died in the line of duty, as part of a welfare initiative to support bereaved dependents.

The presentation, held at the Command Headquarters in Jos on Wednesday, was made by the State Police Commissioner, Bassey Ewah, who represented the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The funds were issued under the Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Scheme, designed to provide financial relief to families of officers who sacrificed their lives in service of the nation.

“While no amount of money can replace the lives lost, this initiative underscores our commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their loved ones,” CP Ewah said, expressing condolences to the families.

He encouraged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely, noting that other entitlements owed to them would be disbursed in due course.

The move reflects the Nigerian Police Force’s continued efforts to honour officers who die in service while providing tangible support to their surviving family members.
