Nigeria’s Ministry of Interior has announced that Good Friday and Easter Monday will be observed as statutory public holidays across all federal entities in 2026, offering employees an extended weekend break.

Government offices, ministries, parastatals, and other public institutions will suspend work on Friday, April 3, 2026, for Good Friday and Monday, April 6, 2026, for Easter Monday. Normal operations are set to resume on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

Easter in Nigeria is traditionally celebrated with church services, family gatherings, and social events, providing a time for reflection and communal activities. These two holidays will be the only national public holidays for the month of April 2026.
