Tragedy unfolded in Okitipupa, Ondo State, as a man allegedly killed three children in a shocking attack inside their home. The incident, which occurred yesterday, has left the local community in mourning.
According to reports, the suspect, believed to be mentally challenged, reportedly used a machete to attack the victims before fleeing the scene. The victims included his own son and two extended family members, one of whom was a female student preparing for tertiary education.
A local resident described the event as horrifying, noting that the reasons behind the attack remain unclear. “The victims include a female student and two young boys. One of them is the attacker’s son, while the others are members of the extended family. It is a devastating loss,” the resident said.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ondo State, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed that the suspect had been apprehended and would soon be arraigned. The victims’ remains have been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital in Okitipupa.
Jimoh added that a thorough investigation is underway. “The suspect has been arrested, and a thorough investigation is ongoing. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” he stated.
The incident has left the Okitipupa community in shock, highlighting urgent concerns about mental health awareness and public safety.
