The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has temporarily diverted flight operations from Terminal 3 of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, following an electrical spark that caused smoke within an operational office.
The incident led to the brief shutdown of the terminal at about 14:05 hours, prompting immediate safety measures and disruption to scheduled flight processing. FAAN said ongoing electrical maintenance is being carried out to ensure all systems are fully restored before reopening the facility.
“All flights that currently operate from Terminal 3 have been diverted to Terminal 2. Passengers are hereby advised accordingly,” the authority said in a statement.
The agency added that the situation was swiftly brought under control, with personnel from the Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Services (ARFFS) responding promptly to contain the incident and prevent escalation.
FAAN assured passengers that safety remains a top priority and that normal operations will resume once the terminal is cleared for use.
