Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has officially signalled his entry into the race for the Owerri Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections, pledging what he described as a “paradigm shift” in leadership and representation.

Speaking with journalists in Owerri, Madumere said the time had come for the Owerri Senatorial zone to embrace a new direction built on what he called sustainable, inclusive and people-focused governance.

He described his ambition as a response to what he believes is a growing demand for more effective representation at the National Assembly, insisting that the constituency deserves experienced leadership rather than “experimentation.”

Madumere, a former deputy governor and political figure in the state, said he has developed a blueprint tailored to the needs of constituents, focusing on infrastructure development, youth empowerment and human capital growth.

He also stressed his background in business development and public service, arguing that his experience gives him an advantage in delivering what he called “impactful and results-driven representation.”

According to him, his decision to contest under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was driven by the party’s grassroots structure and broad national presence, which he believes aligns with his political vision.

“I am determined and resolute. I believe I have the pedigree, experience and exposure to offer credible representation,” he said, adding that he remains confident of securing the PDP ticket and ultimately winning the election.

Madumere also called on voters in Owerri Senatorial zone to focus on competence and capacity when choosing their next senator, urging them to make what he described as a “serious and informed decision” in 2027.

He assured constituents that, if elected, he would prioritise inclusive governance, strategic development planning and stronger engagement with grassroots communities across the zone.

The former deputy governor further emphasised that his campaign would be anchored on a vision of transformative leadership aimed at repositioning the senatorial district within the national political and development space.
