Nigerian music star Davido has revealed that he would prefer his children to stay away from the entertainment industry and instead build careers within his family’s business empire.
Speaking in a viral interview on The Breakfast Club, the singer said he envisions his kids working in the companies owned by his father, businessman Adedeji Adeleke, rather than pursuing music or showbiz careers.
Davido explained that his view is shaped by his personal experience growing up, particularly the initial resistance he faced from his father when he chose music as a career path.
According to him, that early lack of support affected him emotionally, even though he eventually succeeded in building a global music career.
He said he would not want his own children to go through similar struggles, adding that a structured business environment would offer them stability and an easier life path.
Davido also reflected on observing his father’s relationship with his grandchildren, noting that family moments brought him visible joy despite his business success.
The singer added that while he would prefer a different career path for his children, he would still support them if they insist on entering the entertainment industry.
He also revealed that one of his daughters is already showing interest in music and performance, saying she enjoys singing and dancing.
Davido’s comments have sparked conversations online, especially among fans who view his journey as one defined by persistence, independence, and eventual global success in Afrobeats.
