The City Boy Movement has named Iniabasi Godswill Akpabio as its new State Director for Akwa Ibom State, marking a fresh phase in the group’s push to deepen its grassroots structures across Nigeria’s South-South region.
The appointment was announced on Thursday through the movement’s verified X (formerly Twitter) account, with leaders describing it as part of a wider strategy to strengthen youth engagement and political mobilisation ahead of future national activities.
City Boy Movement said the new leadership in Akwa Ibom is expected to drive what it called “unprecedented impact,” signalling a renewed focus on expanding its influence at the state level.
The statement introducing the appointee read: “Introducing the Akwa Ibom State Director of the City Boy Movement. Iniabasi Godswill Akpabio. With her at the helm in Akwa Ibom, the movement is set for unprecedented impact.”
Iniabasi Godswill Akpabio is expected to lead the group’s grassroots coordination, youth programmes, and civic engagement activities within the state, as the organisation continues to broaden its footprint.
The City Boy Movement is a youth-focused political support group aligned with the advocacy of civic participation, skills development, and leadership training. It is backed by its grand patron, Seyi Tinubu, and has been active in promoting youth inclusion in governance conversations.
The group has consistently positioned itself around mentorship and empowerment initiatives, with a strong emphasis on mobilising young Nigerians for civic awareness and participation in democratic processes.
With this latest appointment, attention is now shifting to how effectively the movement can consolidate its presence in Akwa Ibom State and scale its activities as political positioning gradually builds toward the 2027 general elections.
