Tensions between Nigerian music superstars Burna Boy and Wizkid escalated on Tuesday as Burna Boy publicly challenged Wizkid to a physical confrontation.
The dispute traces back to a Lagos nightclub incident on Monday night, where Burna Boy and his entourage allegedly assaulted DJ Tunez, Wizkid’s official DJ, over a dispute about song selection. Wizkid had earlier taken to social media to criticise Burna Boy and his 10-man team for the alleged attack.
In a viral video, Burna Boy dismissed Wizkid’s online reactions as weak, claiming the singer’s strength is limited to social media. Speaking in Pidgin, he said: “Wizkid come go dey tweet. Na internet their own power dey. We na real life our own power dey. I thought DJ Tunez go call his oga, and his oga go do something or send people but na tweet Wizkid con dey tweet.”
The “African Giant” added that he was solely responsible for confronting DJ Tunez, countering claims that his team had collectively acted. The incident has sparked widespread debate online, with fans divided over the rivalry and the ongoing feud between two of Nigeria’s biggest music icons.
As the feud unfolds, industry observers caution that such public spats could impact both artists’ reputations and fan relations, urging for reconciliation behind the scenes.
