A swift response by the Osun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has led to the arrest of a 25 year old man over an alleged armed robbery operation in Ororuwo community, Boripe Local Government Area.

The suspect, identified as Rilwan Raifu, was apprehended on Sunday after residents raised alarm over suspicious movements believed to be linked to a gang of armed robbers operating within the area.

Confirming the development, the corps spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu Abass, said operatives attached to the Boripe Command acted promptly on the distress call, intercepting the suspect at the scene while other members of the group escaped.

Authorities said efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing gang members, as security operations intensify across the area to prevent further criminal activity.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect has confessed to participating in the robbery, describing it as his first involvement in crime. He reportedly told investigators that an associate known only as “Small” recruited him and facilitated his movement from Lagos to Ororuwo for the operation.

Security operatives recovered a dane gun, a stick, and a mask from the suspect at the time of arrest items believed to have been intended for use during the operation.
