Two hunters have been killed after suspected armed bandits attacked a group in Kadidda Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State.
Security analyst Makama reported on X that the attack occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday during a hunting exhibition. The assailants, described as heavily armed and numerous, shot two hunters at close range, killing them on the spot. Other members of the hunting party escaped and alerted authorities at the Tangaza Divisional Police Headquarters.
One of the victims has been identified as Nura Usman, 30, from Magonho Village. The identity of the second victim is still unknown.
Security sources said troops from a nearby Army Forward Operating Base, along with other security agencies, were deployed to the area after the attack, but the bandits had already fled. The bodies of the deceased hunters were evacuated to a hospital in Tangaza.
Authorities have intensified patrols and launched a manhunt across the forest and surrounding communities to apprehend the attackers.
