The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cautioned candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) against committing registration offences or violating the attestation signed during registration.
JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, issued the warning on Monday as the registration process entered its third week. Speaking to media executives during the penultimate week of registration, Oloyede emphasized the gravity of violations.
“Registration infraction is a serious offence,” he said, “candidates may be barred from sitting the UTME for up to three years. In addition, names of defaulters may be published in national dailies and circulated to other public examination bodies.”
Oloyede further warned that serious offenders could face prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), or the Nigerian Police.
The 2026 UTME registration began on January 26, 2026, with thousands of candidates across the country expected to complete the process in the coming weeks.
