Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing persistent internal crises within the opposition party.
Suswam’s decision was contained in a resignation letter dated February 4, addressed to the Chairman of the Mbagber Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
In the letter, the former governor expressed frustration over what he described as the party’s inability to resolve its long-standing internal conflicts, which he said have continued to undermine its cohesion and effectiveness.
“I consider it honorable and necessary to step aside while wishing the party well should it one day find the courage and consensus to resolve its long-standing issues,” Suswam wrote.
Although he did not disclose his next political destination, Suswam has recently been linked with a coalition of opposition leaders who have reportedly adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their platform ahead of the next general elections.
His exit marks another high-profile defection from the PDP as internal wrangling continues to fuel uncertainty within the party.
