British rapper Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, popularly known as Central Cee, has revealed that he has converted to Islam, marking a new chapter in his personal life and faith journey.
The Band 4 Band crooner made the announcement during a recent livestream, saying: “I just changed my name and took my shahada, I am a Muslim now,” while friends congratulated him in the video.
Until now, Central Cee had not publicly declared a formal religion, making this a significant revelation for fans and followers.
Born on June 4, 1998, in London, Central Cee is of mixed heritage, with an English mother and a father of Guyanese and Chinese ancestry. His parents separated when he was seven, and he grew up with his mother and two younger brothers in Shepherd’s Bush.
Central Cee began his music career with a now-deleted appearance on the Fire in the Streets series in 2014. His first song appearance came on the Ain’t On Nuttin Remix alongside J Hus in January 2015. He rose to prominence with his breakout single Day in the Life on June 14, 2020, and has since become one of the UK drill scene’s biggest stars.
This announcement adds a new dimension to Central Cee’s public persona, reflecting a personal decision that may shape his future both on and off the stage.
