The death toll from a late Monday attack on Garga community in Kanam Local Government Area, Plateau State, has risen to three, according to residents.

Eyewitnesses said attackers on motorcycles stormed the area, opening fire on residents. One person was killed instantly, several others injured, and cattle were reportedly rustled during the assault. Local vigilantes and hunters mobilised to pursue the assailants, though significant damage had already been inflicted.

Residents have expressed alarm over insecurity in the area, calling for increased security presence to prevent further attacks. The situation in neighbouring Birbiyang town, less than 15 kilometres from Garga, is also worrying, with residents urging authorities to intervene as armed men reportedly operate freely in the area.
