Former APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Timi Frank, has called on African leaders to take bold and coordinated action to confront the continent’s deepening security crisis, warning that delay and disunity are fuelling instability across key regions.

In a statement released on Thursday, Frank said Africa’s persistent insecurity can be significantly reduced if leaders demonstrate genuine political will, move beyond rhetoric, and collaborate through practical and inclusive approaches. He stressed that dialogue and cooperation—not isolation—remain the most effective tools for conflict resolution.

Drawing inspiration from the Abraham Accords, Frank referenced the peace agreements initiated about five years ago and recently highlighted by United States President Donald Trump. According to him, the accords introduced a new conflict-resolution framework that prioritises engagement and cooperation rather than waiting for every historical grievance to be settled before peace efforts begin.

Frank argued that Africa could adapt this model to address violence and political instability, particularly in conflict-prone regions such as the Sahel, the Great Lakes, and the Horn of Africa, where armed groups, terrorism, and political tensions continue to undermine development and regional stability.

He cautioned against the long-held approach of postponing dialogue until political conditions are deemed “perfect,” noting that such delays often worsen crises instead of resolving them. Peace, he said, should be viewed as a continuous process rather than a one-off event.

“Waiting for perfect political conditions before engagement often deepens conflict rather than resolves it,” Frank said.

He added that with strong political commitment, practical cooperation, and inclusive dialogue, African leaders can curb violence, strengthen unity across borders, and project the continent as a confident and credible player on the global stage.
