Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Division have rescued 11 people abducted by armed kidnappers during a coordinated operation in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, along the busy Kaduna–Abuja road.
The rescue followed actionable intelligence gathered by soldiers stationed at a Forward Operating Base in Doka, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the development in a post on X on Tuesday. Troops reportedly sighted the kidnappers escorting their captives through a bush path linking Gidan Duna and Amale communities on Monday.
Security forces swiftly mobilised and moved in pursuit after identifying the suspects. As military patrol vehicles and motorcycles closed in, the kidnappers reportedly abandoned their captives and escaped into the surrounding forest.
Makama quoted sources as saying the fleeing attackers left the victims behind in a bid to evade arrest, allowing soldiers to secure the area and evacuate those held captive without injury.
The rescued group comprised five adult men, three women and three children. They told troops they had been taken from Gada Mallam Maman community in Kachia LGA on October 26, 2025.
After medical and security checks, the victims were returned to their community, where they were reunited with their families.
Military sources said patrols and security operations have since been intensified across the area to prevent further abductions and to track down the suspects who escaped during the operation.
