The Imo State Government has announced plans to confer honours on 50 distinguished individuals as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of the state.

The honourees, made up of notable indigenes and friends of Imo State, are being recognised for their outstanding contributions to the state’s growth, development and legacy over the past five decades.

The Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, disclosed this in a statement issued in Owerri, the state capital. He said the final list of award recipients—covering both living and posthumous honourees—will be officially unveiled on Wednesday, February 4.
