Bayelsa State will hold a Day of Tribute on Wednesday in honour of the late Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, as part of his four-day funeral programme. The event will take place at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall in Yenagoa.

The tribute follows sporting activities held on Tuesday at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, recognising Ewhrudjakpo’s significant contributions to sports development in Bayelsa. The events included a novelty football match, athletics, tug-of-war among civil servants, traditional wrestling, and para-wrestling competitions.

In the football match, Bayelsa Queens played to a goalless draw with a selected Bayelsa State All-Stars team, with Governor Douye Diri, his wife Justice Patience Diri, and other dignitaries performing the ceremonial kick-off.
