Former Governor of the old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, continues to command respect decades after his tenure, with Anambra indigenes living in Enugu praising his pragmatic, inclusive, and non-discriminatory style of governance.

The group credited Nwobodo for administering the old Anambra State—which now comprises Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi states—with fairness, ensuring equal attention and development for all regions without favouritism or sectional bias.

Their sentiments were expressed during a courtesy visit to Nwobodo at his ancestral home in Amechi-Uno, Enugu South Local Government Area, where he recently relocated. Leading the delegation, President of Anambra Indigenes Living in Enugu, Chief E.U. Adimora, said the visit was both a gesture of gratitude and a celebration of the former governor’s enduring legacy.

Adimora also recalled Nwobodo’s commitment to unity, highlighting that he governed without discrimination among the various ethnic groups of the old Anambra State. “That relationship did not end because he left office. As long as he is alive, we will continue to honour and associate with him,” he affirmed.

In response, Nwobodo thanked the delegation for their loyalty and friendship, acknowledging the strong relationships he continues to maintain with people in Anambra State. He also commended the Anambra indigenes in Enugu for their peaceful conduct and contributions to the development of their host communities.

“I have many friends in Anambra, and we have always been close. Your visit is a show of love, and I truly appreciate it,” Nwobodo said, offering prayers for the delegation.
