Nigerian reality TV star and comedian Aderombi Adedayo, popularly known as DeeOne, has publicly revealed that celebrity fashion designer Veekee James is his former romantic partner, following remarks she made about him during a recent podcast interview.
The disclosure came after Veekee James described DeeOne as an “unserious” person while speaking on the Unfiltered and Extra Spicy with Ify’s Kitchen podcast, comments that quickly gained traction across social media platforms.
Reacting to the remarks, DeeOne confirmed that the two once shared a relationship shortly after his appearance on Big Brother Naija in 2018, describing the revelation as “a blast from the past.” He suggested that the comments may have been influenced by unresolved emotions.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, captioned “Ruth, you never still move on from this our matter,” the comedian said he had long moved on and bore no resentment towards the fashion designer or her family.
DeeOne explained that their relationship ended due to differences in personal boundaries, stressing that there was no bad blood between them. He maintained that some figures within the entertainment industry, including Veekee James’s husband, are aware of their past relationship.
He also urged fans and social media users to stop taking celebrity disagreements personally, noting that many aspects of the entertainment industry remain unknown to the public. According to him, his response was necessary only because he felt unfairly portrayed.
Concluding his remarks, DeeOne wished Veekee James well in her marriage and career, stating that he harbours no ill feelings. “From me, it’s all love,” he said, adding that he remains supportive of her success despite the renewed public attention on their past.
