Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is preparing a tactical overhaul ahead of Monday night’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth, with reports suggesting a shift away from his much-debated 3-4-3 formation.

According to The Athletic, the Portuguese coach is considering abandoning the system he has consistently deployed since his arrival at Old Trafford, amid growing scrutiny over United’s performances and results.

The proposed change is partly driven by expected squad disruptions, with key players Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations, significantly reducing Amorim’s wing-back and wide attacking options.

Their absence could force United into a more traditional back-four setup, a move many supporters and pundits have called for as the team struggles for balance and consistency.

Amorim has largely remained loyal to the tactical philosophy that brought him success at Sporting CP, insisting on structure and positional discipline despite mixed outcomes in England.

However, the 40-year-old has come under increasing pressure after overseeing 58 matches that have yielded just 23 wins, with the club missing out on major silverware and European qualification last season.

Reports suggest Amorim has already briefed his players that changes are imminent, signalling that the Bournemouth fixture could mark a turning point in his Manchester United tenure as he looks to steady the team’s Premier League campaign.
