Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has been released from police custody after spending two days in detention, following her arrest over allegations involving a prominent Lagos-based pastor, Chris Okafor.

Ogala regained her freedom on Monday, bringing an end—at least for now—to a development that has dominated conversations across social media and Nigeria’s entertainment space.

The actress was arrested on Saturday evening after she publicly accused Pastor Okafor of deceiving her with an alleged promise of marriage, along with other claims she made online.

Several influential voices joined the campaign, including popular social media commentator VeryDarkMan and human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore, who both publicly demanded her freedom.

Shortly after her release, Ogala took to Instagram on Monday afternoon to express gratitude to those who stood by her during the ordeal.

In a brief message, she wrote: “Thank you Sowore. Thanks so much to my ratel king,” a post that further fueled online discussion around the case.
