Nigerian celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, has been discharged and acquitted of all charges in connection with the death of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.
The ruling was delivered on Monday, December 15, 2025, concluding a three-year legal saga initiated by Bimbo’s family, who had alleged that IVD was responsible for her death.
The news of the court decision was shared by IVD’s current partner, self-styled relationship expert Blessing CEO, on her Instagram page. She celebrated the acquittal and used the platform to encourage followers to leave toxic relationships before it is too late.
“Discharge and acquitted 15th December 2025. It ended in praise. Four years of tears and false narratives. Nigeria justice system still works. I’m proud of my country. IVD, you can now have your life back. Congratulations,” Blessing CEO wrote. She added: “If marriage or relationship no dey work, please run ooooooo, don’t wait for anybody to pass. Run.”
Bimbo Ogbonna died in October 2022 after sustaining injuries from a fire incident linked to domestic violence at their Lagos residence. Following her death, IVD faced charges of involuntary manslaughter brought by the Lagos State Government in March 2023 and was released on bail.
He was rearrested on August 1, 2025, while traveling to Qatar ahead of his wedding with Blessing CEO, according to reports from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
The court’s verdict marks the end of a high-profile case that attracted national attention, reaffirming Nigeria’s judicial process while bringing closure to IVD after years of public scrutiny.
