Big Brother Naija winner Phyna has accused the Dangote Group of negligence and insensitivity in the handling of her sister’s death and burial, alleging that the company failed to honour its public commitments and attempted to manipulate her grieving family.

In a series of Instagram posts, Phyna — born Ijeoma Otabor — claimed her sister, Ruth Otabor, died under circumstances she described as “tragic, calculated and planned.” She said the Dangote Group initially promised to cover all medical and burial costs but later defaulted.

According to Phyna, the company only paid bills at Lagoon Hospital, Lagos, while the family was left to shoulder expenses incurred during Ruth’s transfer from Auchi to Irrua. “The bills from Auchi down to Irrua were covered by the family; no refund has been made,” she lamented.

She also alleged that on September 13th, the day of her sister’s burial, the Dangote Group became unreachable. “They did not pick up calls from us, as we were told the bills were not paid, but they claim it was,” Phyna wrote.

The reality star further accused the company of impersonation, sharing a letter allegedly drafted by the Dangote Group and sent to her father, asking him to sign an acknowledgment of receipt for burial expenses.

“You killed my sister, did massive PR, gave the girl’s papa money for burial, then still by yourself wrote an acknowledgement letter impersonating my father and sent it to him to sign,” Phyna alleged.

She argued that such conduct suggested a deliberate effort to control the narrative after the burial instead of engaging her family with transparency and respect.
