Philomena Osawaru, mother-in-law to Afrobeats legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has jokingly tasked the singer and his wife Natasha with giving her a grandchild soon.
She made the playful request on Friday during celebrations marking 2Baba’s 50th birthday at the Idibia family residence in Lagos.
Osawaru, who expressed delight at having the music star as her son-in-law, showered him with prayers for long life and grace.
“It’s a joy and delight to have you as my son-in-law. Innocent Idibia, at 50, you’re looking 25. When some of us are praying to age gracefully, God has done it for you already. You will continue to age gracefully, in Jesus’ name. Amen,” she said.
Amid the cheers, she added with a smile:
“By the time we come next, we will see the baby crawling around.”
The light-hearted remark drew laughter from guests at the party, blending seamlessly with the celebratory mood as fans, family, and colleagues honoured the singer whose hit song African Queen remains a global classic.
