The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the 2025 WASSCE results for school candidates, confirming this via a post on its verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, August 5, 2025. The release marks a pivotal moment for hundreds of thousands of students across Nigeria and other West African countries who sat for the exams earlier this year.
WAEC’s Head of Nigeria Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, stated during the announcement that this year’s results reflect a notable improvement in candidate performance, with over 75% securing at least five credits including English Language and Mathematics — a significant uptick from last year’s 68%. He also noted that results of some candidates are being withheld over reported cases of malpractice.
To access their results, candidates are to visit the WAEC result-checking portal at www.waecdirect.org. The process is simple, provided the candidate has their examination number and e-PIN voucher.
Here’s a clear step-by-step guide to check your 2025 WAEC result online:
Visit www.waecdirect.org.
Input your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number (e.g., 4123456789).
Select your exam year (2025).
Choose the type of examination — in this case, “School Candidate Result.”
Enter your e-PIN voucher number.
Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your e-PIN.
Click “Submit” and wait for your result to be displayed.
For candidates who took the exam before 1999, an 8-digit examination number is required instead, following the old center-candidate format.
WAEC has urged candidates to ensure the security of their e-PINs and avoid third-party result-checking agents who may compromise their personal data. Furthermore, institutions of higher learning are advised to authenticate results directly through WAEC’s verification portal to avoid fraud.
Dr. Dangut also emphasized the council’s ongoing efforts to digitize result access and improve transparency. Candidates who have issues accessing their results are advised to contact WAEC support or visit the nearest zonal office.
