Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has formally petitioned the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, demanding action against what she described as gross misconduct by officers of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCC) and controversial social media figure, VeryDarkMan.

The petition, filed through her legal firm Maverick Forte Legal on July 29, 2025, accuses the NPF-NCC of breaching due process by granting unauthorized access to her private interrogation session. According to the petition, during her questioning at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, VeryDarkMan—who is a defendant in a separate case in which she is a witness—was allowed into the same room without legal justification.

Iyabo Ojo alleges that this breach was made possible by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ifeanyi Henry Uche, who reportedly has an improper relationship with the influencer. She claims that following the interrogation, private details of the session surfaced online, allegedly leaked by VeryDarkMan, raising serious concerns about the sanctity of ongoing investigations.

The actress, who was summoned for comments she made implicating singer Naira Marley in Mohbad’s death, now insists the entire process has become compromised. She stated her refusal to participate in any further proceedings at the Abuja office and has demanded the immediate transfer of the case to Lagos State, where she believes a neutral and unbiased investigation can be carried out.

Ojo further argued that allowing a defendant to be present during a witness interrogation violates ethical protocols and raises critical questions about the professionalism of the NPF-NCC. She is calling for a full review of the conduct of the officers involved and disciplinary action to prevent future occurrences.

The incident has reignited conversations around the influence of social media personalities on law enforcement procedures, and whether the Nigerian police is capable of conducting sensitive investigations without external interference.

As the controversy continues to stir public outrage, many are waiting to see whether the Office of the National Security Adviser will act on Iyabo Ojo’s petition and initiate a probe into the allegations leveled against both the NPF-NCC and CP Uche.
