A high-octane live concert featuring some of Nigeria’s biggest music stars will light up Eagles Square in Abuja tonight, as the nation continues to celebrate the Super Falcons’ triumphant WAFCON 2024 campaign. The National Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed that the celebration concert will begin at 7:00 PM on Monday, July 28, with a lineup of A-list performers set to thrill fans and honour the newly crowned African champions.
The concert serves as the grand finale of a day-long national celebration for the Super Falcons, who landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Monday afternoon to a hero’s welcome. Thousands of fans lined the streets as the team embarked on a trophy parade through major districts including Airport Road, Berger Junction, Maitama, and Wuse Market.
Top music icons expected at the concert include Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Davido, Kizz Daniel, and Asake, alongside cultural performers and dancers showcasing Nigeria’s rich diversity. The NSC says the show will blend entertainment with patriotic pride, capping off what has been described as one of the most iconic moments in Nigerian football history.
The Super Falcons clinched their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title on Saturday night in Rabat, Morocco, defeating the host nation 3–2 in a dramatic comeback victory. Goals from Uchenna Kanu, Asisat Oshoala, and Rasheedat Ajibade sealed Nigeria’s record-extending crown in a final that kept millions on the edge of their seats.
Upon arrival, the team was received by high-profile dignitaries including Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Governor Uba Sani of Kano, and Kwara State’s Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. Chants of “Nigeria! Nigeria!” echoed as fans waved flags and carried posters of their favorite players.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will also host the team later this evening at the Presidential Villa, where they are expected to receive national honors, cash rewards, and potential endorsements. The government has described the Falcons’ achievement as a “symbol of unity, resilience, and national pride.”
With tonight’s concert expected to attract thousands to Eagles Square and millions more watching online, the celebration marks a cultural and sporting moment that will live long in Nigerian history. The Falcons have not only won a trophy—they’ve won the heart of the nation.
