Nigeria’s push to industrialise and promote locally manufactured products is taking an international dimension with the upcoming “Made in Nigeria Economic Forum and USA Expo”, scheduled to hold from October 21st to 25th, 2025 in Houston, Texas.
Organised by the Made in Nigeria Project Office, under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), the forum is designed to attract global investors, highlight Nigerian-made products, and encourage production-based economic growth.
The five-day event will take place at the Wyndham Hotel, Houston, and will feature exhibitions, business-to-business matchmaking, awards for innovation, and presentations on cluster development and processing technologies. It will bring together Nigerian government officials, industrialists, international partners, and members of the Nigerian diaspora.
The theme of the forum is: “Industrialise Nigeria – One Local Government, One Factory, One Product.”
Confirmed speakers and guests include:
- Hon. Nwabueze George – Executive Director and National Coordinator, Made in Nigeria Project Office
- Amb. Yusuf Tuggar – Minister of Foreign Affairs
- HE Sen. Dr. George Akume – Secretary to the Government of the Federation
- Engr. Nadungu Gagara – Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office
- Dr. Jumoke Oduwole – Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment
- Dr. Uba Chukwudi Nathaniel – Regional Coordinator for North America and Head of International Trade Office, USA
Speaking ahead of the event, Hon. Nwabueze George said the forum would offer Nigeria an opportunity to showcase its industrial capabilities and economic potential to the world.
“This event is about building national strategies for homegrown economic promotion, innovation, sustainable growth, and entrepreneurship. We want the world to see that Nigerian products can compete globally if given the right support,” he said.
According to him, the Made in Nigeria Project Office has already established a national secretariat in Abuja, six regional offices, and multiple state coordinators. The office is currently implementing a strategic framework aimed at boosting local production, branding, and exports between 2025 and 2030.
The Houston event is being organised in partnership with the Tri-County Regional Black Chamber of Commerce, Houston, Texas, and is expected to feature investors and stakeholders from across the United States and other parts of the world.
The project, officials say, is designed to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imports and drive an industrial revolution anchored on grassroots manufacturing and local content.
