Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, has tendered a heartfelt public apology following the widespread outrage triggered by his recent comments suggesting that men are not sexually built to stay with one woman. The Afrobeats icon, in a video posted on his Instagram page on Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025, admitted that his statement was poorly worded and disrespectful, especially to his wife, Natasha.
The controversy erupted after 2Face’s appearance on the 234 Mzansi Podcast hosted by Nedu Wazobia, where he bluntly stated that men are naturally polygamous in their sexual desires. The remark sparked a furious reaction across social media platforms, with many fans, women’s rights activists, and fellow celebrities calling him out for promoting toxic masculinity and emotional irresponsibility.
Addressing the backlash, the 49-year-old singer didn’t hold back in admitting his wrongs. “I know I have messed up with what I said. I really, really messed up the way I said it. I’m going to pay a heavy price for this. I will face the consequences,” 2Face said in the emotional video, visibly remorseful.
Directly apologizing to his wife, he said, “I’m sorry to my wife, Natasha. Calling me a legend is an honour, but this my talk is very unlegendary. I’m disappointed in myself. I was trying to explain myself, but I chose the wrong words, and I know I hurt a lot of people.”
2Face further acknowledged that the wave of public criticism has made him realize how much people respect and expect better from him. “The amount of response I got showed me how many people still love and respect me. For me to now use careless words that cancel all that, that’s not who I am. I’m sorry to everyone I hurt,” he added.
Fans have flooded the comment section with mixed reactions—some praising his courage to apologize, others insisting that repeated apologies are no substitute for personal growth and accountability, especially regarding his long history of controversial statements about women and relationships.
