Determination and courage took center stage yesterday, July 1, 2025, as Nigerian cyclist and adventurer, Emmiwuks, officially commenced an audacious solo bicycle journey from Benin City, Edo State, aiming to reach the United States of America. The young man, whose real name is Emeka Williams Ugochukwu, flagged off the journey amidst cheers from supporters and curious onlookers.

Clad in cycling gear and carrying a backpack filled with essentials, Emmiwuks began pedaling on the Lagos-Benin Expressway, documenting the historic moment live on social media. His mission, according to sources close to him, is to cycle across at least 15 countries and traverse over 12,000 kilometers, making it one of the longest documented solo rides by any Nigerian cyclist.

Speaking briefly before departure, Emmiwuks expressed strong faith in completing the journey. “This is about showing the power of resilience and inspiring African youth to dream beyond borders,” he said. His route is expected to take him through West Africa, parts of North Africa, Europe, and finally across the Atlantic, possibly by ferry or ship, before entering North America.
