Terry G has broken his silence over long-standing allegations that he hijacked the smash hit Pass Me Your Love, originally released by AY.Com in 2009. The controversial singer and producer took to his X (formerly Twitter) page this week to shut down critics, branding their accusations as “ignorant” and rooted in hypocrisy.

The track, which became one of the biggest street anthems of its time, featured Terry G on the hook and was produced by him. Despite not being the primary artist, Terry G frequently performed the song at shows, leading to years of speculation that he sidelined AY.Com and hijacked the glory for himself.

In his recent post, Terry G clarified that performing a track he collaborated on is industry standard, especially when his vocals defined the chorus. “To those saying I stole ‘Pass Me Your Love’ from AY.Com — that’s pure ignorance,” he wrote. “So I don’t have the right to perform a song I featured on? Your favourites do it, but when I do it, una dey vex. Hypocrisy.”

The Free Madness crooner further noted that he never included the song on his own albums, stressing it was a collaboration, not an act of theft. “I didn’t put it on my project. It was AY’s. But I gave it the shine and the streets ran with it. That’s not hijack. That’s impact,” he added.

Terry G also hinted that public outcry over the song may have hurt AY.Com more than helped him. “Some of you ruined his moment with your noise, not me,” he declared, flipping the narrative on those who blamed him for AY.Com’s declining fame.

The controversy has sparked fresh debates online, with fans divided between nostalgia and accountability. While some argue Terry G’s presence elevated the song into mainstream success, others insist AY.Com was sidelined in the process.

As fans revisit one of Nigeria’s most iconic duets, Terry G’s defiance reinforces his reputation as the unapologetic “Akpako Master” — bold, raw, and always ready to shake tables.
