Lamar Odom, the former NBA champion who once earned over $114 million (₦174 billion) during his basketball career, has reportedly been evicted from his Los Angeles rental home after defaulting on over $45,000 (₦67 million) in unpaid rent. The 44-year-old ex-husband of Khloe Kardashian is said to have not paid a dime since signing a one-month lease agreement in December 2024.

Court filings by Executive Recovery Group, the property owner, revealed that Odom agreed to pay $15,000 (₦22.8 million) monthly but failed to make any payments from January to March 2025. The landlord filed a lawsuit earlier this year to recover the full amount owed and to have Odom vacate the premises, citing breach of contract.

The former Lakers star, who won two NBA championships alongside the late Kobe Bryant, has battled addiction and personal struggles for years. Many fans recall his near-fatal overdose in 2015 at a Nevada brothel, which led to multiple strokes and kidney failure. Despite multiple stints in rehab, his recovery has remained inconsistent.

Neighbors in the upscale LA neighborhood reported that Odom had become increasingly reclusive, rarely stepping outside or hosting visitors. “It’s sad. He used to be vibrant and full of life. Now it’s like he’s a ghost of himself,” said one resident who asked to remain anonymous.

The fall from grace has stunned many who followed Odom’s career from his early days with the Clippers to his celebrated championship run with the Lakers. His fame only surged further during his marriage to Khloe Kardashian and his appearances on reality TV, but that spotlight dimmed rapidly after their divorce in 2016.

Sources close to the former athlete suggest that his financial issues may stem from bad business decisions, relapse into substance use, and alleged dependency on handlers who drained his resources. The current eviction paints a sobering picture of the fragility of fame when it’s not backed by sound management and personal healing.

Legal proceedings are still ongoing in Los Angeles County Court, while Odom’s team has yet to release an official statement. The situation has sparked a broader online conversation about mental health, financial literacy, and the pressures faced by celebrities once the limelight fades.
