Spanish influencer Fati Vázquez has spoken out following waves of online death threats sparked by viral rumours linking her romantically with 16-year-old Barcelona winger, Lamine Yamal, after alleged shared vacation photos surfaced on social media.

Vázquez, 30, has found herself at the centre of intense public scrutiny after eagle-eyed fans matched her holiday Instagram posts with those of Yamal. The images—posted days apart—showed the duo at what appears to be the same luxury villa with a unique infinity pool and signature Mediterranean backdrop, fuelling speculation about a possible romantic getaway.

The controversy erupted after Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo verified the similarities in the backgrounds of the posts, including scenes from a private boat and distinct coastal landmarks. While neither Yamal nor Vázquez have confirmed any relationship, the internet frenzy quickly escalated, with Vázquez becoming the target of online abuse and harassment.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on June 18, Vázquez issued a deeply emotional response. “It’s sad to see people who have such darkness inside that they wish death on someone they don’t even know,” she wrote, alluding to the hateful messages she’s received. She called for compassion and healing, adding, “Nobody who is well in themselves wishes the destruction of another.”

The online outrage has been fueled by the significant age gap between the two, sparking ethical debates and backlash. Though Spanish law considers 16 the age of consent, public opinion across social media has largely condemned the alleged relationship due to power dynamics and maturity differences.

Vázquez, known for her fashion and travel content, insisted she would not be silenced by bullying and toxicity. “I choose to live with the purpose of continuing to grow and surrounding myself with light,” she wrote, affirming her resolve to rise above the hate.

As the controversy continues to spread across Spain and international platforms, Barcelona and Yamal’s representatives have remained silent. Legal experts and public figures are now calling for an urgent discussion about digital harassment, age sensitivity, and media accountability in cases involving high-profile minors.
