Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has declared that his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is the best leader Osun State has ever had, praising his performance and defiance of public doubt. The music star made the remarks during an interview on Culture Knock Out (C.K.O.), hosted by Chris and Baloo, where he addressed misconceptions about the governor’s leadership style.

Davido, known for openly supporting his uncle throughout his political journey, noted that many people initially mocked Adeleke for his love of dance, dubbing him “The Dancing Governor.” However, he insisted that the governor’s results in office have silenced critics and earned him the respect of Osun citizens.

“My uncle, the Dancing Governor, is good vibes, but beyond that, he’s a serious performer,” Davido said. “He is the last born of my dad’s family. A lot of people doubted him. They never thought he’d become governor, let alone deliver. But he has, and now people know not to judge a book by its cover.”

He emphasized that being lively or humorous doesn’t translate to incompetence. “Just because somebody likes to dance and have fun doesn’t mean he can’t lead. When it’s time to work, he works. Now he’s being called the best Osun has ever had, and I fully agree.”

Adeleke, who was sworn in as governor of Osun State on November 27, 2022, has prioritized salary payments, infrastructure upgrades, and civil service reform. His administration’s transparency portal and tech-focused youth empowerment programs have earned him praise even from former skeptics.

Davido’s public endorsement adds a cultural boost to the governor’s image, further blurring the line between entertainment and politics in Nigeria. The singer also hinted at upcoming initiatives that both he and the governor might collaborate on to support education and entrepreneurship in the state.

The interview has since gone viral, sparking social media discussions about Adeleke’s leadership and whether personality traits like dancing and humor should ever be used to disqualify someone from public office.
