Veteran Nollywood actors Segun Arinze and Emeka Ike have officially ended their long-standing feud, bringing closure to a conflict that began in 2009 over the leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). The rift, which lasted for over 15 years, was one of the most talked-about disputes in the Nigerian film industry.
The tension started when Emeka Ike challenged the results of the 2009 AGN presidential election, which saw Segun Arinze emerge as the winner. In 2010, Ike took legal action, demanding the annulment of the election, a move that deepened their rivalry and created a divide among their supporters in Nollywood.
Providing an update on the situation, Arinze, during an interview with QED.ng’s Olumide Iyanda, revealed that he and Ike had finally resolved their differences. He emphasized that their conflict was never personal but simply a disagreement over the AGN presidency.
“Emeka Ike is a fine actor. We still talk and laugh over those things. The conflict ended naturally. We weren’t quarrelling; it was just about the AGN position. That’s why I left the position,” Arinze stated.
Acknowledging the passage of time, Arinze reflected on the futility of holding grudges. “What are we having enemies for? Travel light. How long do you have to live in the world that you want to carry on your shoulders? What do I need that animosity for? We are growing old,” he said.
The actor further disclosed that he had extended an invitation to Emeka Ike for a meal, signaling a renewed friendship. “He is my friend, and I have asked him to go for lunch or dinner whenever he is around,” Arinze added.
This reconciliation marks a significant moment in Nollywood, demonstrating the power of forgiveness and unity in the industry. With their long-standing feud now behind them, fans are hopeful that both actors will collaborate on future projects, bringing their legendary talents back to the screen together.
