A brutal case of betrayal has rocked Delta State as a site engineer, Chigozie Udalor, was gruesomely murdered by his employees after they discovered he had a substantial amount of money in his Moniepoint account. The suspects, now in police custody, struck him with a hammer, tied him up, and buried his body in a shallow grave at the site where he worked.

The case unraveled when Udalor’s cousin, Hyacinth Nnalue, reported him missing at Akwukwu Igbo Police Division on December 12, 2024, after losing contact with him since December 10. He informed the police that the missing man managed his fish pond in Bod Camp, Akwukwu Igbo community. Officers initiated an investigation, which was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a more thorough probe.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, ordered an intelligence-led investigation handled by DPO Ekpan, CSP Aliyu Shaba. On March 31, 2025, detectives arrested a suspect, David Tacho, attempting to withdraw money from the victim’s Moniepoint account using his phone. His confession led to the capture of another accomplice, Daniel Orshio.

The body of the deceased has been exhumed and is currently undergoing autopsy. Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the two fugitives, Victor Tacho and Pius Daniel. Authorities are calling on the public to provide any useful information that could lead to their capture.
