A tragic case has unfolded in Delta State as three sisters mysteriously lost their lives while visiting their father’s residence in the Delta Steel Company (DSC) Township, Oruwhorun, Udu Local Government Area. The sudden deaths, which occurred under questionable circumstances, have led to the arrest of their father and his second wife.
The young women, whose names are yet to be disclosed, reportedly lived apart from their father following their mother’s death but maintained occasional visits. Sources revealed that the sisters had attended a birthday party before returning to their father’s house, only to be discovered lifeless the next morning, foaming at the mouth. The incident has triggered widespread suspicion and outrage within the community, particularly as it comes less than a year after their mother’s passing.
Further reports suggest that the father remarried shortly after his wife’s death, and the new wife was allegedly a close friend of the deceased woman. The shocking nature of the case has led to intensified police investigations to determine if foul play was involved.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating, “We are treating this as a suspicious death and are exploring all angles. The public will be updated as we make progress.” The police have not ruled out poisoning as a possible cause of death, but an autopsy will provide further clarification.
In a separate development, authorities have apprehended two Tiv youths from Benue State in connection with the December 2024 murder of an engineer contracted to construct offices in Akwukwu-Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area. The suspects allegedly buried the victim in a shallow grave on a farm after committing the heinous act.
Investigators recently uncovered the crime after securing confessions from the arrested individuals, leading to the exhumation of the deceased engineer’s body. Police are actively hunting for additional suspects linked to the murder. “We are aware of the incident, and our officers are working to ensure all those involved are brought to justice,” SP Edafe assured.
These disturbing cases have sent shockwaves across Delta State, reigniting concerns about rising crime and the need for swift justice. Residents and advocacy groups are urging the police to conduct thorough investigations and ensure those responsible face the full weight of the law.
