Nigerian activist known as “Verydarkblackman” has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Inspector General of Police, demanding the arrest of an individual allegedly threatening the lives of Christians in northern Nigeria. In a video posted on his Instagram account, the activist emphasized the gravity of the threat and insisted on immediate police intervention.
The activist highlighted that the suspect’s statements could incite violence against Christian communities in the region. He warned that such threats should not be taken lightly and called on law enforcement agencies to act swiftly to prevent potential attacks.
This development comes amid escalating concerns over the safety of Christians in northern Nigeria. Reports indicate that jihadist violence continues to escalate in the country, with Christians particularly at risk from targeted attacks by Islamist militants, including Fulani fighters, Boko Haram, and ISWAP (Islamic State West Africa Province).
The activist’s ultimatum underscores the urgency of addressing threats against religious communities. He cautioned that ignoring such warnings could lead to severe consequences and stressed the need for proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
In response to the activist’s call, various social media platforms have seen increased discussions about the protection of religious minorities in Nigeria. Users are urging authorities to take decisive action against individuals or groups promoting hate speech and inciting violence.
The Nigerian government has been under scrutiny for its handling of religious tensions and the protection of vulnerable communities. International organizations have called for more robust measures to combat religious persecution and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable.
As the 48-hour deadline approaches, all eyes are on the Nigerian police to see how they will respond to the activist’s demands and whether the suspect will be apprehended to prevent potential escalation of violence in the region.
