Grief swept through Umuezeta Agunabani community in Okposi, Ebonyi State, as two prominent sons, Ezenwa Ajah and Princedon Esau Nwe, tragically lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident during the early hours of Sunday, April 27, 2025. The duo was reportedly traveling back to Abuja after visiting their hometown when the fatal incident occurred.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that the accident happened along the dreaded Okigwe–Enugu highway, notorious for its poor road conditions and frequent deadly crashes. Sources close to the family confirmed that the vehicle conveying the two young men lost control due to a suspected burst tire, leading to a catastrophic collision with an oncoming truck.
Family members, friends, and well-wishers have been thrown into mourning, describing Ezenwa Ajah and Princedon Esau Nwe as vibrant, hardworking, and deeply committed to the growth of their community. Ezenwa, a rising entrepreneur, and Princedon, a well-respected civil servant, had both been seen as shining lights and role models for the younger generation.
Okposi town has been plunged into deep sorrow, with community leaders calling for urgent prayers and solidarity. Traditional rulers and youth groups have also urged the state government to intensify efforts toward repairing critical road networks that continue to claim lives.
The untimely deaths have reignited conversations around road safety in Nigeria, as citizens lament the continuous loss of promising lives due to dilapidated infrastructure and reckless driving. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria recorded over 6,456 road traffic deaths in 2024 alone — a grim statistic now made personal for the people of Umuezeta Agunabani.
Burial arrangements for the deceased are yet to be announced as the families gather to make decisions amidst overwhelming grief. A candlelight procession is being planned by the Okposi Youth Forum to honor their memories and advocate for better road safety measures in the region.
As condolences pour in from across the country, the memory of Ezenwa Ajah and Princedon Esau Nwe will remain forever etched in the hearts of those they inspired, even as the community rallies around their bereaved families during this unbearable time.
