Genk striker Tolu Arokodare couldn’t hold back his emotions after making his long-awaited debut for the Super Eagles in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali.

The 24-year-old, who has been one of Nigeria’s top-performing strikers in Europe this season with 19 goals and five assists, was introduced late in the second half, replacing two-goal hero Victor Osimhen.

Arokodare, earning his first cap under new Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, was visibly emotional after the game, breaking down in tears in the locker room as the significance of the moment overwhelmed him.
