Nollywood veteran John Amaefule has been hospitalized at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Owerri, after suffering a severe stroke that has affected the left side of his brain, causing right-sided weakness.

The news was confirmed by fellow actor Stanley Ontop, who took to Instagram to share the critical health condition of Amaefule, urging Nigerians to offer financial support for his medical treatment.

According to Stanley, the actor requires urgent medical tests and procedures, including a Lipid Panel test, Hemoglobin A1C test, and Electrolyte Urea & Creatinine test, to assess the severity of his condition and begin intensive treatment.

The family of the ailing actor has pleaded with well-meaning Nigerians, industry colleagues, and public figures to come to his aid financially, as the cost of treatment is beyond their means.

Fans and Nollywood stakeholders have begun to rally support, calling on government officials, entertainment industry leaders, and charity organizations to step in and assist.

Amaefule, known for his significant roles in classic Nollywood films, has entertained audiences for decades, contributing immensely to Nigeria’s film industry. His current health crisis has sparked widespread concern, highlighting the need for a structured support system for veteran actors facing health challenges.

As of now, no official statement has been released by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) regarding financial intervention. However, well-wishers are urged to reach out to the family for donations and assistance.
