Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has issued a heartfelt apology to the Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPAN), three years after her suspension for publicly criticizing the association. The apology came during the 2024 Celebrities Entertainment Awards in Canada, where Blessing tearfully expressed regret over her past actions, admitting that her career success stemmed from her roots in the Nigerian film industry.

Blessing and fellow actress Iyabo Ojo had actively campaigned against Baba Ijesha amid his alleged child abuse case, leading to online clashes with other TAMPAN members, including Yomi Fabiyi and Lege Maimi. Following the controversy, TAMPAN veteran Jide Kosoko prohibited directors from working with the actresses, a decision that Blessing had initially mocked.

TAMPAN President Mr. Latin responded positively to her apology, signaling reconciliation. Actor Odunlade Adekola also praised Blessing’s public gesture, marking a possible resolution to the long-standing conflict.

Baba Ijesha, meanwhile, was sentenced to prison in July 2022 after over a year of trial, with Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo presiding over the case.
