Popular Nigerian crossdresser and social media personality, Bobrisky, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in Lagos state.

The arrest came just hours after a social media critic, Verydarkman, called on the Nigerian police to arrest the crossdresser.

The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrest to LIB, saying it was related to “currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira”.

The EFCC spokesperson did not specify how Bobrisky allegedly abused the Naira, but the arrest comes after the crossdresser posted a video on social media in which he was seen throwing naira notes at guests at a movie premiere.

The viral video sparked outrage among many Nigerians, who criticized the crossdresser for what they perceived as disrespect for the Nigerian currency.

“It is true our boys arrested him yesterday evening in Lagos for naira abuse. We don’t have anything to do with his lifestyle. He was suspected of committing an economic crime and that was the reason for his arrest,” EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said.

This isn’t the first time Bobrisky has sparked controversy with his actions on social media. He is known for his flamboyant lifestyle and has been criticized for promoting what some see as immoral behavior.

‘’He is with us. We arrested him over currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira. He is in our facility in Lagos state. ‘’ Oyewale said, He added that Bobrisky will be charged to court soon.
