A 36-year-old trader, Ibrahim Isah, on Monday, appeared before a Shari’a Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, for allegedly stealing two cell phones, a television set, and a home theater device.

The defendant, who resides at Maraban Jos, pleaded not guilty to the offenses bordering on housebreaking and theft.

The prosecutor, ASP Luka Sadau, had informed the court that on January 30 at about 1:00 p.m., one Hauwa’u Jibril filed a complaint against the defendant at Maraban Jos Police Station.

“On that day, the nominal complainant was in her room when she heard a sound which made her leave the room to check where the noise was coming from,” he added.

Sadau said that the complainant on that day, saw the defendant standing with her home theater device, and on sighting her, immediately escaped.

He said that the complainant later discovered that some of her items were missing of which she suspected the defendant responsible.

The judge, Malam Isiyaku Abdulrahman, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the correctional facility and adjourned the case till February 14.
